A Little Update

Seems like its been ages since I've written on this blog.  Well, I guess it has been ages!  Time seems to fly by lately.
My hips doing good.   No major complaints.  Things are still healing but I'm 96% back to all normal activities.  The screws can get a little annoying at times but nothing I can't handle.
No major injuries for the past several months.  Still in PT for cervical instability.   POTS has probably been giving more trouble than anything else.  But that's life!
For the past two weeks I've been working on opening up a studio and gift shop in town.  It been a lot of fun.  It feels good to work hard at something and get lots accomplished.  POTS has pocked its head in the door more than once during these weeks but its all about adapting and making the most of what you CAN do.  Setting up a shop has been a good experience.  Its been good to just step out and take a risk.  Learning new business terminology (ugh!), and what its like to have a lot on your plate!  I'm loving every moment of it and wouldn't want to do anything else right now!

Will post more about my business adventures and pics later!!

Hip Chick and Artsy Randomness

For the past few hours I've been busy cooking, cleaning, laundry ect.  For the past two hours my bad hip has been trying to get a message through that its just plum tuckered out.  Unfortunately I seem to be ignoring it ;-)  I still have a few things to do but I'll make myself take it easy for a little bit.  I love being busy and active but having a bum legs kinda gets in the way sometimes :-D
making homemade granola!
The past few weeks I've been getting really busy with art.  I'm also getting ready for some art shows and competition this summer!

Here's a few things I've been working on lately:

Randomness

Between doctor appointments, school, bouts of feel pretty disgusting, ect, ect, ect, this is what I've been up to lately :-D
'Blue Berries' (watercolor)

'Green Waves' (watercolor) used a photo from a surf magazine as a reference. I've never painted waves before and it was kind of a challenge but I like the way it turned out!

This is what you could call a hand me down. With two older brothers, its quite common, especially when it comes to school books.  Like my poor physics book.  Its hanging on by tape!!! But this one you can't beat! I got my brother bike! With a little good bit of cleaning and a few touch ups, I'll be gone..................riding!!!! That is.......I've got to check first with my physical therapist if I can actually ride it.  I'm not saying I don't know how to ride a bike but with hip dysplasia, its another story. Well, we will see.  Hopefully he'll say its ok! If not, there's always after surgery :-D

My Art Studio!!!

Since I have more concentration and all I have started drawing more. With school almost finished I can't wait to get into it!! SO, I set up my own act/craft studio!!

My table.  I came home to it Saturday.
Its set up!!
I have to admit that I was hurting quite a bit after setting the table up.  Not sure how I would do it next time though.....probably ask someone else to help me!  At least its up :-)

Christmas in July :-)
Some supplies unexpectedly came this morning!

"The kitty" colored pencil drawing
I've always wanted to try drawing on black paper.  So the other day I did for the first time.  I picked out a photograph and watched a movie while I worked on it! It was SO much fun!!! Can't wait to get more of this paper soon :-)

Three years later

2009

I wasn't all that pleased when I did this three years ago.  For the past few months, I've kept running into it and wanting to redo it and see if my watercolor skills have improved any since then.  Other than accidentally starting it on the wrong side of the paper, I'm more happy than last time with how it ended up.  Maybe in the next three years I'll try it again:-)

Art class and update

I have been taking art classes downtown since I was thirteen.  My instructor studied in Italy and in California.  I'm in the middle of a four week portrait class.  Over the years I have learned so much from his class and am always challenged to improve my skills :-)

Here is his website. Thomas Marsh

PT seems to be doing well.  I am getting more ankle, knee and hip pain than anything else.  My SI joint keeps coming out of place and a belt is on the way and should be here early next week.  I'm hoping that will give some pain relief and help keep things in place more.  I'm not supposed sit cross-legged (Indian style) anymore.  Not sitting cross- legged seemed really weird and hard not to do for the first week or so, but last week my SI was only out of place in two places instead of four the week prior.

This past week or two has been a bomb for school and life in general.  The flu last week, pneumonia this past weekend and of course pneumonia doesn't disappear very fast.  So I have been taking naps and doing Chemistry homework whenever I can.  And of course I'm getting stir crazy from the cold weather and being inside so much.  But March is less than two months away :-)  Its just one step at a time even though you feel like you're stuck in a pit I guess.  I'm not good at it though ;-)
